“ A good man is hard to find”

This story boggled my mind.  The story, “ A good man is hard to find,” by Flannery O, Connor is about redemption.  Life is not what it used to be.     Deception, lies and lack of respect is what this world has turned in to.  With masks of an angel, hides a person who cannot be trusted.  Only when their time is up, they try to find redemption.  This story has many shady characters starting from the lack of respect from a son, the disrespect from children, the grandmother who tries to manipulate her son and a man who tries to help, but ends up killing the family.  No one can be trusted and that is why “ A good man is hard to find.”

  1. Hi, I agree is about lack of trust towards everyone, but mostly towards men in general.

  2. consider that the concept of a "good man" is presented from the GM's point of view, and a facet of her larger, unrealistic worldview and self-image, rendering the concept at best questionable, illusive, and so general as to be substancelass--she cannot find in reality what exists only in her self-romanticizing, fantasized worldview; the GM lives imaginatively in an old-South Aristocracy, and its attendant "Christian" morality, where "gentlemen" "court" "ladies"; the GM's worldview does not of course include awareness of the economics of slavery that underlie the beautiful old South plantation mansions; She is also psychologically unable to either comprehend or accept the brute reality represented by the Misfit, causing the tension and desperate struggle we see in the second part of the story, as her worldview is gradually voided by her encounter with the Misfit
